This tour starts at a private farm 20 minutes from Puerto Viejo and ends in that same city. You will be given a life jacket, helmet and paddles and yes, you are expected to reme. The guides will teach you how to paddle and give you safety information on the river. The section of the river that will sail is class 1, and it is a great opportunity to float through the wonderful forest of The Jungle Biological Station.
In this protected tropical forest you will find howler monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and many species of birds including toucans and many more. The tour is an obligation for bird lovers. Depending on the water level, the tour can last between 2 and 3 hours. Children and adults of all ages are welcome on this tour. Canoes are recommended for this tour but can also be requested inflatable kayaks.
